Corey Damen Jenkins – “Branching Out”

I’m sorry I have been away so long.  Between work and travel, I haven’t had much time to blog.  I’m making things up to you today with this feature about my friend, Corey Damen Jenkin‘sDIFFA table “Branching Out.”  I had the privilege of seeing this beautiful vignette in person last week while in New York.  Not only is Corey a talented designer, but he is  also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.  Corey always stands out in a crowd due to his dapper attire and huge “pearly white” smile.  Things were no different last week when I visited his table at DIFFA.  His table was so beautiful I wanted to share his space with you.

Corey partnered with Beacon Hill to create his table for the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS’(DIFFA) annual dining By Design benefit in New York held in conjunction with the Architectural Digest Home Show March 19-22.  The look was bold and glamourous.

Corey is a visionary as was evident by his choice of lighting for the space.  In lieu of the typical chandelier, Corey chose oversized lamps by Global Views.  When asked why he chose lamps for the table he said “because I could”  and that pretty much sums up Corey’s design verbata.  Why do the ordinary when you can do the extradorinary.  The lamps were also reflective of his theme for the space, which was “Branching Out.”

The walls were lined with beautiful hand-painted de Gournay wallpaper and trimmed in bright green trim. The custom chairs are part of Robert Allen’s dining chair program and are dressed in Silk Hallo in gold and Samurai Bloom in island blue, Pattu Ottoman in gold and Copa Mosaic in island blue.  The combination of materials was stunning!  The room had a sexy, hollywood vibe perfect for an intimate dinner party with friends.

The detail on the de Gournay paper is stunning.  Here’s an upclose view of a bird from the paper which is handpainted.

The table featured a custom tablecloth of Beacon Hill’s new collection Maravilha.

In true “Corey Style” not a detail was left unturned.  Beautiful china by Arte Italica topped with green moss and lavendar succulents from New York’s garden district.  Antique jewelery graced the plates for a special touch.

Congrats for a job well done Corey!  We are all so proud of your accomplishments.  We are sitting on the edge of chairs waiting to see what you do next!  Cheers!
